EKONOMİK BÜYÜMENİN İNSANİ GELİŞMİŞLİK ÜZERİNDEKİ ETKİSİNDE TURİZMİN GELİŞİMİNİN ARACILIK ROLÜ: AKDENİZ ÜLKELERİ ÜZERİNDE BİR ARAŞTIRMA

Abstract
Turizmin ekonomik büyüme için önemini kabul eden çoğu uluslararası kuruluş, turizm büyümesinin toplumun ekonomik ve sosyokültürel gelişimini de etkileyebileceğini tartışmaya başlamıştır. İnsani Gelişmişlik Endeksi (İGE), bir ülkenin veya bölgenin insani gelişme alanındaki başarısını veya başarısızlığını ölçmek için kullanılan bir yöntemdir. Akdeniz ülkelerinin ve turizm sektörlerinin ekonomik büyümesi, İGE'nin iyileştirilmesi için çok önemlidir. Bu bağlamda bu çalışmanın amacı, son yirmi yılda turizm faaliyetinin genişlemesi sonucunda bazı ülkelerde yaşanan ekonomik büyümenin insani gelişmişlik düzeyindeki artışı etkileyip etkilemediğini tespit etmektir. Bu amaca yönelik olarak, 15 Akdeniz ülkesinin 2010-2019 yıllarına ait Ekonomik, Turizm ve İnsani Gelişmişlik İndeksi verileri kullanılarak ekonomik büyüme, insani gelişmişlik ve turizm gelişimi arasındaki ilişkinin Yapısal Eşitlik Modeli kullanılarak araştırılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda ekonomik büyümenin insani gelişmişlik üzerinde pozitif ve anlamlı bir etkisi olduğu, turizmin gelişiminin ise ekonomik büyüme ile insani gelişmişlik arasında kısmi aracılık rolü oynadığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

Abstract
Most international organizations that acknowledging the importance of tourism for economic growth have begun to argue tourism growth can also affect the economic and sociocultural development of society. The Human Development Index (HDI) is a method used to measure the success or failure of a country or region in the field of human development. The economic growth of Mediterranean countries and their tourism sectors is crucial to improving the HDI. In this context, the aim of this study is to determine whether the economic growth experienced in some countries as a result of the expansion of tourism activity in the last two decades affects the increase in the level of human development. For this purpose, the relationship between economic growth, human development and tourism development was investigated using the Structural Equation Model using the Economic, Tourism and Human Development Index data of 15 Mediterranean countries between the years 2010- 2019. As a result of the research, it was concluded that economic growth has a positive and significant effect on human development, and the development of tourism plays a partial mediation role between economic growth and human development.
